Supervision

Professional Clinical Supervision on the Sunshine Coast

Helping Emerging Counsellors

Here at Coast Life Counselling, my role as a Supervisor is to help emerging counsellors and other professionals understand their way of being when supporting clients. This includes:

  • Reflecting on frameworks and all aspects of practice
  • Learning strategies for when feeling stuck
  • Discussing individual cases in depth
  • Reviewing and adapting practice to improve effectiveness
  • Keeping up to date with professional development
  • Reviewing professional standards and best practice guidelines
  • Providing support for ethical dilemmas or mandatory reporting issues
  • Ensuring counsellors are working ethically within their scope of practice, competency, code of conduct and professional boundaries
  • Identifying future training and professional development needs
  • Reviewing self-care routines and how to manage workloads

Collaborative & Confidential Assistance

I offer a safe and confidential space where counsellors can reflect, explore and discuss all aspects of their practice without breaching client confidentiality. I am a professional member of the Australian Counselling Association’s Supervision College who is eligible to provide supervision to counsellors seeking case consultation as they grow and develop their professional identity.

My approach is collaborative, as you have your own knowledge, experiences and expertise that is valid to our discussions. I will provide you with a safe and nurturing environment without judgement, and honour and praise the unique skills and qualities you bring to your therapeutic identity.

Supervision is commonly one-to-one, but I consider facilitating small groups on request. While most of my supervision clients are fellow counsellors (or counselling students), I also offer supervision to other related professionals including lawyers, coaches, support workers and mentors.
